In this post, I recommend some online art classes that transformed my skills.
Living in a small town, connecting with fellow artists isn’t easy. Finding art classes is even harder. But I didn’t let that stop me. Let me share how I tackled this artistic journey.
Imagine being the only art enthusiast around. That was my reality. Finding online art classes with artists from around the world was a struggle due to work and money. This creative dry spell lasted for years. Then, the pandemic changed the game. When the pandemic hit, something unexpected happened. Amazing online art classes became available. I jumped at the chance and learned a lot.
Among the diverse array of classes I’ve explored, I’d like to share a few that have truly rekindled my creative flames. These classes hail from Udemy, a platform embraced by freelance teachers imparting their expertise:
- The Art & Science of Figure Drawing: Gesture taught by Brent Eviston. This masterclass unlocks the secrets of figure drawing, offering approachable techniques alongside ample examples. It’s a golden opportunity for those with a foundation in drawing to elevate their figure artistry. And here are some of my figure drawing at the beginning and end of this online class:

After taking this class:
- The Ultimate Drawing Course – Beginner to Advanced taught by Jaysen Batchelor & Quinton Batchelor Despite my existing drawing and painting prowess, this class unexpectedly enriched my toolkit. As I delved into blogging and cultivating my social media presence, I realized the value of mastering foundational art teaching. This course is a gem for nurturing art educators-to-be.
- The Beginner’s Guide to Digital Art with Procreate on iPad. For aspiring digital artists, this course is a gateway to the captivating realm of Procreate. I recommend first acquainting yourself with Procreate basics through its tutorials on its website before diving into courses like this for a seamless learning experience.
These classes made a real difference. My art skills improved, and my creative spark reignited. Despite being far from other artists, I found my place in the online art community.
